Whew, What a Weekend!

Well lets see, what word could I use to best describe this past weekend...I guess I'd have to say eventful. Before I start to whine, there were definitely a couple of really fun things that we did this weekend! Saturday morning we had Faith's soccer game (which has got to be one of the most humorous things to watch, have you ever seen 4 year olds play soccer?), but we were extra motivated and went to the gym and worked out first! Woohoo, for me! I have a lovely friend that accompanies me, usually five days a week to the gym. I love it, we mix it up and do Spin, Yoga, and all sorts of cardio. I have to be honest and say that even if I'm really not in the mood to sweat...the kids club and having a tiny break can convince me almost every time. So back to my story, we finished our work out and got to soccer (on time, I might add). Faith had a lovely game, and almost got a goal a couple of times! She is enjoying soccer, but is at times a bit too aggressive. They always have fun, and the game has ended happily every time so far. Then we go out to the car to leave and go to lunch and what do I find? Well, the same thing that several other moms find as well...as shattered passenger window and missing purse. *Yes I am completely aware that it is an EXTREMELY bad idea to leave your purse in the car*. I actually don't usually (even thought the games are at church). I had my hands full by myself with the girls though, and after the stroller, two chairs, diaper bag, Faith's water, and Lily...I just shoved it under the seat. I really am just sick...my purse was brand new. My wallet in the purse was a Coach wallet from almost two years ago that I have taken GREAT care of...and now they are both no more. Oh well, live and learn I guess. So needless to say, we missed my niece's birthday party. Here is the outfit I made her!
Not a great picture, I know. Hopefully I can replace it when my SIL sends me one of her wearing it, and her bow. The file is from Embroitique. I left off the one candle because I didn't want it to come across as a first birthday (she's three).

After all of the commotion we came home and laid around for the rest of the day. Movies, naps, etc. Then along came Sunday...we sadly missed church to do my missing window. I would have hated to have my actual car stolen next. I know, I know, you are probably thinking, "Well I'm sure church is okay." Let's not forget, that is where this happened! So instead, we made a lovely little brunch/lunch and spent some girl time together.

We went to a good friends and spent the beautiful afternoon picking blackberries galore. The had a wonderful time! Here are a few pictures from our afternoon. Note-I'm leaving out the 15-20 that Faith took of Bethany and I bent over doing all of the work...silly child.

We ended up filling that ENTIRE bucket...we as in Bethany and I. Faith and Lily acted as professional golf cart riders. Lily actually did pick a few, but they were mostly green and red...glad she didn't get a stomach ache. Then we came home, ate dinner, and made a cobbler! I used this recipe- (so easy)

EASY BLACKBERRY COBBLER

3 c. blackberries
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/4 lb. butter

Melt butter in 8 x 8 pan. Mix blackberries and 3/4 cup sugar. Mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and milk. Pour mixture into melted butter; spread evenly. Pour berry mixture on top. Cake should cover the berries and be golden brown when done.

Bake at 375 degrees for about 1 hour. Serve warm with milk on top or ice cream.

***I did make 2 changes- used whole wheat flour, and cut the sugar in the fruit in half. Was DELICIOUS. I let Faith eat it for breakfast :/ It's okay to splurge sometimes right?

One last thing. Jessica, owner of formerly Mia Joie that is now Joyfolie has launched her new name (isn't it lovely) and some absolutely ADORABLE new items. She is doing a give away right now, I am crossing my fingers that I win. I have never won any of these before...I've actually only entered probably two or so. Who wouldn't want to win a pair of these? Photobucket

I'm really testing my luck and entering Dear Lillie's give away as well...wish me luck. I really really REALLY want this dress!

We shall see...now I have to go clean. Everybody have a wonderful day!

Spring Family Pictures

My lovely friend Jeni did some family pictures of us. I am blessed with wonderful friends who possess amazing talents, aren't I? We always have plenty of pictures of the girls, but have been seriously lacking a great family photo for some time now. I don't know if anyone has ever told you this before, but children of the ages one and four are not easy to take pictures with. That is actually an understatement. They are incredibly difficult to take pictures with. I made the girls adorable new outfits and was completely pumped about meeting Jeni at the park for pictures. However, about three minutes into our photo shoot Zach and I quickly discovered that it wasn't going to run smoothly.

We started out by sitting on this adorable chair and stool, which of course the girls fought over. If one was not upset about something, the other surely was. I got the bright idea to pull out the lip gloss (this typically makes our girls happy, go figure), which was actually a terrible thing to do. We got one really quick shot of glossy smiles and happy girls, and then started the whining. The lip gloss was like crack. Lily's word for anything she really really likes and can taste is "nummy". From the moment the lip gloss was put up, until the end of the session, all we heard was "Nummmmmmmmy! Nummmmmmmy! NUMMMMMMY!" You get the picture?

Despite the chaos, Jeni was able to catch some wonderful shots. Have a look-

It actually looks like Lily is posing here! She totally wasn't, but see what I mean? Jeni is GOOOOOD.
Here are all the ones of the four of us. The first one is my most favorite.
Now, isn't this just so typical...Faith being a sweetheart to Daddy, but Lily absolutely REFUSING to give him a kiss-
She did eventually change her mind-
Aren't these of Faith and Zach sweet?

Here a few of them individually-

And here is one of Lily and I-

For Faith's little halter top shirt I used a bodice pattern and just added two more layers. The rose fabric is from Hancocks. I fell TOTALLY in love with it, and bought all that was left on the bolt (a little less than a yard) so I had to be really careful on what I made for them with it. For Lily's skirt I didn't use a pattern (I really don't even see how they sell skirt patterns, it's seriously just a long rectangle) and I just rolled up some scraps for her roses.

Lastly, here are a couple of pictures of a little set I made for a friend/coworker of my mother who had a little baby girl. Her name is Emma Ladan, beautiful isn't it? I have been meaning to ship it for a while :/. Finally got it dropped off today.
The soft fabrics are from Hobby Lobby. They are one of my favorites.

Everyone have a wonderful evening!

New Clothes for the Girls

My friend Andrea had given me a pair of her daughter's old jeans a couple of weeks ago to turn into a skirt for her. They fit fine width wise, but were too short. She wanted some type of zebra outfit for the rodeo. I finished it up, and I can't wait to make one for Faith! Kailee is her best friend, and after modeling the outfit for a picture of Kailee's outfit, Faith wants one "soon". It looked adorable on Faith, and I am sure it will on Kailee. The Zebra K is from Lynnie Pinnie, isn't is cute?

Then Faith requested that I take a picture of her sitting "like a lady", now if we can only get her to act this sweet all the time...hmm...any suggestions?

Before I make she and Lily little outfits like this,  I had to do these adorable little jumpers. I did Lily's last night and Faith's this morning (thank you to my husband for keeping them outside for a good couple of hours this am). Aren't they just precious? In the summer they'll be perfect without anything underneath. I used the Carla C Sweet Tops and Dresses pattern from You Can Make This. I did the jumper style bodice, cut all the strips and sewed them together, then added a strip at the bottom. I really LOVE them both. Of course Faith thinks Lily's is prettier, *sigh*.

Weren't the girls cute at Madelyn's birthday party? They had a really great time... that is, until we had to leave because of a full blown melt down. Look at little Princess Madelyn in her shirt-
She is such a little ham!
Oh, and I didn't make this dress Lily is wearing (it has nothing to do with Ruffles n Ribbons), but I had to show you this picture. Isn't this the CUTEST thing you have EVER seen? This is my friends son Brayden, and look at Lily flirting! Wow!!!

New Outfits for my Lovely Ladies and Another Banner

So, I have some really great new things to post today! My little Faith requested a very specific outfit from me last week, and hooray for getting it completed so soon! She wanted a pair of ruffle pants, made from the material that Nana's glasses case was made from, and a long sleeved shirt with a peacock. Miss Particular, we shall call her, ha! Well I got to work, and am so satisfied! More importantly, Faith couldn't be happier. She hasn't wanted to take this off since I finished it. Here are a couple of cute pictures of her in it. We spent the day at the Children's Museum yesterday, and she and Lily both wore their new outfits *smile*. I was proud, and the compliments made me feel great.

I love that fabric. I want to make so many different things with it! It came from JoAnne's (the one in Austin), and I commissioned my Grandma to get some more for me because of how pretty it was! The green shirt is from Old Navy and the peacock applique is from Bunnycup Embroidery. I purchased it forever ago and had just been waiting on finding something to put her on! The pants pattern is Carla C Easy Fit Pants, they are awesome! I added the ruffle to make them a little more girly.
Then I made Lily this outfit.

Notice how I absolutely cannot get a straight forward picture of her. She is NEVER still, really never. I'm not exaggerating. I got this pink shirt and Target and the file is the flower font Linnie Pinnie. This is the same pant pattern, but just added a trim no ruffle. I think the wide leg makes it so cute! Lily is so skinny it was hard to get a pattern to fit. Isn't it adorable? Now for pictures of them both. The second one is hilarious. Lily is totally cheesing, to the extreme, hahaha.

 I love them.
I also made this outfit for Faith almost a month ago, but kept forgetting to take pictures. I think it came out pretty cute.

I didn't make the scarf, but doesn't it coordinate perfectly? The elephant is from Lynnie Pinnie and the green shirt is Target. I got that fabric at JoAnne's in Austin. I love the JoAnne's in Austin. It is SO much better than the ones down here. Moving on-
Here is a shirt I did for Faith this week. It was super quick and easy, but came out adorably. She got a ton of comments when she wore it the other day.

I think the purple shirt looks so pretty with her eyes! That is the Vintage font from Lynnie Pinnie (has almost every applique in this post been from her?) and the Curlz from 8 Claw and a Paw. I got the purple shirt at...guess...Target!
My mom is hosting a baby shower at her house in Austin, and when I heard, the first thing that came to my mind was the Party Banner I was talking about last post! I raved on and on previously, so I suppose that isn't necessary this time. They really are awesome though. The couple don't have a definitive name, so they suggested putting "Precious" on the banner. I did all chocolate brown, pink, and green. Three of my most favorite colors! It came out wonderfully. I really think doing one of these with a name would be such an adorable shower present/decoration! How cute would it look in a nursery?

Now for the last picture today! My sister in law asked me to make a shirt for my niece with a pony in these colors. The pony is from Designs by JuJu. I think it is a sweet little pony. I'll probably do one for Faith in pinks and lime green. Cute, cute.

Now the girls and I are off to have lunch with some girlfriends of mine that we haven't seen in a while! Yay for girl time =). I have some orders to work on this week, about four or so, and also have to finish Chloe's letters to go with Camryn's. Whoa, those have taken forever!
